Physiotherapy guide
What to expect at a first physiotherapy appointment
A first physiotherapy visit is usually an assessment: what is going on, how you move, and whether treatment or a plan is the next step. It is not the same as a massage booking.
The first visit is an assessment
Expect questions about how the problem started, what makes it better or worse, and what you want to get back to. The physiotherapist may look at how you move and explain what they recommend next.
If something is new, worsening, or stopping you moving well, physiotherapy is often a better starting point than a relaxation treatment.
What to wear and bring
Wear clothes you can move in, and bring any letters, scan reports or a list of current medication if you have them. Arrive a few minutes early so the appointment time is used for assessment, not paperwork.
Follow-up on WellNear
If you agree a follow-up, look for genuine appointment times on the listing. You can save the practice and rebook from your WellNear account after you have been.
