Hair guide
What to expect at a first hair appointment
A first haircut, colour or restyle is easier when you know what the appointment usually includes and what to say before the scissors come out.
Before you book
Read the service description for cut, colour or styling, the duration, and whether a consultation is included. Colour and treatments often need a patch test or a longer appointment than a dry cut.
If you have a photo of a result you like, keep it handy. It is more useful than a celebrity name, especially if your hair type or length is different.
What usually happens on the day
Most first visits start with a short conversation: how you wear your hair, how much time you have day to day, and what you want to change. Say if you colour at home, have a sensitive scalp, or need to keep a certain length for work or sport.
You should be able to ask about the plan before it starts, including how long the appointment will take and what is included in the price.
Aftercare and the next booking
Ask how to look after the cut or colour at home and when they would normally see you again. On WellNear you can save the practice and, where appointment times are published, book the next visit before you leave.
WellNear guides provide general information to help you compare services. They are not a substitute for personalised medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
