What to expect at a first yoga or Pilates class

A first class is usually about finding a pace you can keep. Read whether it is beginners, mixed-level or reformer equipment, and what to bring.

Match the level

Beginner, prenatal, reformer and athletic sessions are different bookings. If the listing does not say who it is for, message before you pay.

What to bring

Many studios provide mats. Wear clothes you can move in. Arrive a few minutes early so you are not assembling a reformer or finding a space during the opening sequence.

After the first class

You should leave knowing whether the teaching style suits you. A good next step is a regular slot with the same teacher, not a different style every week.
